Snail Shirring Baby Bonnet Class
Fine Hand and Machine Sewing
"Ruffles are a necessity around the babies bonnet. No matter how much you may admire simplicity, you will find that all babies look best with a flattering frame around the face." (Sewing for the Baby 1944) with this advice in mind, the Snail Shirring bonnet has the loveliest ruffle to frame babys face. Snail Shirring is a beautiful old technique that involves gathering fabric in a decorative manner.
The ruffle around the front of the bonnet has been gathered using this technique. You will learn how to attach entredeux using the old fashioned method and stitch the ruffle to the entredeux. Narrow Machine Tucks are stitched and Lace will be inserted into fabric as well as rolled and whipped to the bonnet ruffle. A very good start on learning fine machine sewing. The embroidery is exquisite on this bonnet. It includes Basic Featherstitching and the Antique Double Featherstitchg plus beautiful Bullion Rosebuds and a full Bullion Rose.
