This lovely Baby Bonnet has been reproduced from a bonnet worn by Miss Buford over one hundred years ago! The bonnet features Hand Hem Stitch on a Tuck and the Front hem. The Hand Embroidery was worked in the Padded Satin Stitch, Trailing Stitch and French Eyelets.
The original pattern closed in the back with buttons. I have stitched the opening shut on my bonnet and attached buttons to give it the look of the origianl. You have the option to stitch buttonholes in the back facing like the original (buttonhole instructions not given) or not.
Bonnet Pattern and the instructions for making it, included in this pattern, are for hand stitching with hand embroidery but the bonnet construction can be done using the sewing machine. Hand Techniques include Hemstitch, French Eyelets, Trailing Stitch and the Padded Satin Stitch.
Embroidery design and hand embroidery instructions are included.
Bonnet Pattern and Kit included - White linen , Lace, Lilly of the Valley maline lace, entredeux, Silk Satin Ribbon, mother of pearl buttons and embroidery floss. 28 Tapestry needles for Hemstitching are also included.
You will need: 10 Sharps needles, DMC #50 thread and Madiera #80 thread and Awl for eyelets.
